Description
This series of works were realized in 2016 in collaboration with Pablo Jimenez Moreno through methods of fabric formwork casting; as part of 'Rethinking Concrete Formwork' research project at Edinburgh College of Art. My concern in these pieces was to work based on the material properties of different fabric types and of the ecoscreed mix that was used. The title of the work 'reach' signifies the element of chance that is embedded in working with this specific casting method. I am interested in the limitation of control over the outcome due to the flexibility of the fabric and the weight of the liquid ecoscreed. ‘Reach’ is the continuous process in which I was in during the fabrication of these pieces: a physical and embodied effort to control materials over time.
